1 - CHINA:

This highly progressive country in East Asia is the topmost manufacturer of bovine skin. Precisely, it estimates more than 2,300,000,000 (2.3 billion) sq. feet that is far above anyone competing in the category.

More to it, the hide derived from sheep and goat totals more than 1,300,000,000 (1.3 billion) sq. feet whereas just about 400,000,000 (400 million) square feet is its production of heavy leather.

2 - INDIA:

India’s economy has faced a drastic change in recent times and its progression is beyond compare. The country that would adjust to some fifth to the sixth spot in the past now enjoys the second rank. At this point in time, it makes 3,000,000,000 (3 billion) sq. feet of leather every year.

Interestingly, the production of leather in India is somewhat different from the production in other countries. Basically, the country manufactures an equivalent sum of light leather utilizing bovine animals, goats, and sheep. Quite the opposite, other countries either emphasize on sheep and goat or make the best use of bovine animals for light leather.

With its current production and stats, India stands on acquiring a straight 13% of the global leather stake.

3 - BRAZIL:

Famous for its fine waterfalls; Brazil seizes the third spot for its higher production of leather. Even though the absolute rate of its production is half of China’s, its role in the overall country’s export is much admirable.

As per the accounts, its industry makes 9.5% of the universal leather production with a total of 1,700,000,000 (1.7 billion) sq. feet of leather production every year. Now it’s interesting to note that the South American country makes light leather through bovine skin and hides that are best for the jackets.

From the total production of leather generated every year, somewhere around 4% is from the goat and sheep hide. On the contrary, a mere 2% is heavy Leather Jacket Stores Near Me.

Even though these numbers are not as significant in the form of proportion, their conversion is far ahead of its rivals.

4 - ITALY:

Italy has lately beaten Russia to reach the fourth spot. The textile industry of the country is progressively evolving, which is evident through the growth witnessed in the leather manufacturing sector.

Every year, it sums more than 1,500,000,000 (1.5 billion) sq. feet, which makes the fourth-largest share of global production. Essentially, the majority of its manufacturing is of light leather.

Similar to Brazil, the country uses its expertise to produce it from bovine animals for goods like jackets and coats. These goods tend to have qualities like sartorial strength and staying power that is the core of leather garments.

Moving on, around one-fourth of the total production is based on the skin of sheep and goat and a sheer 3% of heavy leather.

5 - RUSSIA:

Russia manages to make up to the top contenders by producing 1,400,000,000 (1.4 billion) sq. feet leather. The country largely focuses on producing light leather through bovine hides. Around 8% of its leather production encompasses the skin of goat and sheep whereas below 3% is heavy leather.

While the country is managing to deliver the approximate quantity every year, experts are hinting otherwise. According to the market evaluators, its production has been weakening for some three decades now that has evidently favored countries like Brazil and India. With this constant decline, the country has fallen from the third rank to fifth and tends to be on verge of further falling-off.
